We live in a 3 storied town house. The common area is on the ground floor, the bedrooms on the first floor and my studio is on the top. It is bedroom size and has two adjoining balconies and a lot of windows. It's very hot in the summer and cold in the winter, but it's mine!
I've rennovated it 6 months ago, but it is an ongoing process and there are still unfinished things.
The sewing corner includes a custom made table for the sewing machine, a diaper changing drawer chest which was converted into a cutting station, and a drawer chests that is supposed to become an ironing station, when I manage to create a proper top for it. On the "ironing" drawers you can see a portable design wall made of flannel covered plywood.
The storage shelves include 3 Ikea Billy units. The right hand side is mostly for books and binders. The center is dedicated to my fabric stash, with plastic boxes for small scraps near the bottom. The left hand side contains plastic boxes with beads, notions, etc., and the fabrics used in my current projects. Boxes with rarely used fabrics, notions, UFO's, etc. are stacked on the top.
Here is my stash of small fabric pieces. It's located inside the cutting chest drawers.
The design wall is portable. It includes two styrofoam boards 1x2m (approximately 1.1x2.2 yards) covered with flannel. The advantage is that I can stack them, put one horizontally on the drawers near my sewing machine and generally move them around the room.
This is the unfinished corner of the room. This desk was used for my laptop, untill my daughter left home and now I am using her bedroom for my computer related stuff. This desk is used for an extra sewing machine and urgently needs replacing, as it is not stable enough for sewing and vibrates when I work. This area also needs some wall-mounted shelves.
This is a closeup of my custom made sewing table.
